There is a lot of people I follow on Instagram that have a sustainable and conscious lifestyle and most of them have something in common: they practice yoga.
Through social media the yoga seams to be a difficult practice made only for people with an extraordinary physical condition, and a lifestyle that allows them to have all the time in the world to practice. That's why I never felt identified with yoga, but there is one person who gave me a whole different perspective about it.
Nicole Lozano is an amazing person that is working to change that stereotype about what yoga is, showing how inclusive, spiritual and emotionally beneficial it can be by teaching it in heryoga studio El Cuartito in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. This past week I had the opportunity to speak with her and my perspective about yoga totally changed.
That's why today I'm sharing with you the top 5 things I learn about what Yoga really is,
and why you should try it!
1. Yoga= Unity
Yoga, in simple words, is a practice that was made to heal us from the inside out connecting our body, our mind and our spirit.
2. It has a LOT of benefits
Physically it can help us improve our strength, balance and flexibility, but even more important, it helps us develop mindfulness, auto-consciousness, and the ability to recognize us, accept us and develop our selves in a mental, emotional and spiritual way.
3. There should be no competition
The practice is totally individual, and it allows people to express and develop them selves in their own way and path.
4. Everyone can practice yoga!
Things like age, physical condition or gender are not relevant things in yoga. The practice is going to help you improve your strength and flexibility little by little, but the most important part of it is the emotional and spiritual growth.
5. Is super easy to start!
If you want to start, just look for the closest yoga studio and join a class! A certified teacher can guide you in your journey and you can learn how take advantage of all the amazing benefits yoga can bring you!
It truly changed my mind completely and now more than ever I think this practices like this one are an amazing way to connect more with ourselves, so I would love to make it part of my daily habits. What do you think? Have you or would you like to give it a try?
With love,
